The members of this profession are responsible for providing accurate and reliable medical laboratory information for monitoring health, diagnosing and treating diseases.

In the recent past, medical laboratory discipline has witnessed more advances and revolutionary growth in new technologies. The current upsurge in HIV/AIDS, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases (including COVID-19), have enforced a major paradigm shift in the practice of laboratory medicine; putting more emphasis on quality laboratory services that are more timely and accurate.

Moreover, the Kenya public has become more aware of their health needs hence increasing the demand for laboratory services, which also includes use of technology and techniques that were not  available previously.

Therefore, the course aims at providing health care professionals who will serve at both the public, private sector and non- profit making organizations.
